Obama warns Karzai to end corruption (transcript from ABC, Australia on 03/11/2009)

'United States President Barak Obama has signalled a tough new approach to Afghan leader Hamid Karzai'.
This report was pinpointing on the second run off election supposed to be held this Saturday between Mr. Hamid Karzai (who struggled for the second term) and Mr. Abdulla Abdulla (the ex-foreign minister). However, Mr. Abdulla has demanded the key officials from the Independent Election Commission to be removed prior planned run off. He claims that the first round of election was marred by fraud so persons responsible must step down.
Ultimately, his proposal has been turned down by Mr. Karzai, as a result, Mr. Abdulla declared withdrawal from the election as he said it would be pointless to compete under unfair circumstances. (During the first round 1 million fraudulant votes been counted in favour of Mr. Karzai).
As a matter of fact, Afghanistan still fall into chaos and situations been volatile due to the fact that corruptions been the root of confusion, also another factor is; Taliban whom claimed that no matter who goes to the poll, their fingers has to be chopped off!
Subsequently, the international peace keeping troops in the country also confronted with higher risk as to sustain security on the forthcoming run off (as now been called off).
President Obama also trapped into dilemma whether or not to deploy 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan. That's why he is taking a new approach this time; i.e. he hopes Afghanistan could stand on their feet as well as dealing with Taliban without intervention from USA and European countries, therefore, he warned Mr. Karzai to tackle the problem of corruption in his country as well as strengthen their capability of self-defense.
In my view, we have to take a closer look on the upcoming event in the near future as it will cause great impact to the entire world!
